Look to the sky and see the future.
Our team has been fortunate to have been deeply involved in ground breaking technology tied to the oil and gas industry. Those lessons and successes left us looking skyward for more challenges. Our love of technology and flight led us to unmanned aircraft, specifically the engineering and manufacturing heavy lifting Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).
While a barn in the foothills of Alberta is an unlikely place to start a highly technological UAV company – we did. As a team we struggled, cursed and laughed as we created and spent those formative first 3 years bringing new life to our ideas. Now we’re a lean team of highly engaged members continuing our efforts in a new modern facility in Calgary. You could say that this is where we’ll take-off.
We’re exceptionally proud of our E7500 and E2500, the LineFly and sensor systems. All have a practical ruggedness, are industrial-scale and have been created to provide industry-leading performance; these systems were designed by our team to withstand harsh operating environments. When we look to the skies, we see applications in the power transmission, forestry and infrastructure industries. With this knowledge, FulcrumAir continues to grow, meeting the needs of our current and future partners. If you have an application that could benefit from using our technology, please contact us today.
President & CEO
Patrick obtained his MBA in 1986 and has spent much of his career owning, operating and growing several small/medium sized businesses. He attributes his success to a few simple principles: treating staff and customers with the highest level of respect and care and striving to achieve a, some would say, lofty vision for all involved. When Patrick isn’t putting his shoulder into Fulcrum, he spends his time within the trees and nature; he also enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, is a philanthropist helping run a charitable yoga collective and hosts many events at his beautiful farm. Patrick is the leader of our company; he drives and motivates our team everyday!
VP Research & Development
& Chief Test Pilot
Jason graduated top of his class with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern Queensland and went on to design oilfield equipment and rigs in Australia and Canada before making the switch. He didn’t know he had a passion for inventing flying machines until he designed and built one four years ago – now he’s hooked and gets paid to do it! Jason enjoys all aspects of UAVs, from concept design, mechanical design, control system tuning and test piloting. Jason’s other interests involve snowboarding, mountain biking and hiking, all mountain activities that aren’t very common in his native outback Australia. Jason leads our R&D division and keeps the flying machines in check!
Remote Sensing Manager
& RPAS Pilot
Nate has a Degree in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary and has worked in land surveying through out Western Canada. He started piloting drones in 2016 and led multiple manned and unmanned LiDAR missions across Canada. Nate moved to Switzerland for two years to be the lead test pilot and application engineer for a photogrammetry UAV project. When not flying drones or processing data, Nate can be found cycling long distances, camping in remote locations or fixing fences on the family ranch. Nate leads our Remote Sensing efforts and operates all the flying eyes in the sky!
Robert “Bear” Rotzetter
& Chief Pilot
Robert enjoys all aspects of aviation and aviation history; this launched him into his career as a Commercial Helicopter Pilot with a strong interest in commercial regulations. Helping to expand the boundaries of RPAS regulation in Canada is particularly enjoyable and has gained Robert great respect with the regulatory governing bodies. When at home, he enjoys nothing more then to spend the maximum amount of time possible with his wife and children. Robert also enjoys fishing, hiking and wildlife spotting. Robert runs our Operations division and keeps our team safe and sound on every mission!
Electrical & Software Engineer (EIT)
Romas graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; he develops custom software for our drones and ground stations. He’s always been passionate about robotics and coding, which led him to founding the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle team at the University of Calgary where he led the team in designing custom drones for competitions with other universities. Romas brings this experience, combined with internship experiences, to his work at Fulcrum. Outside of work he enjoys hiking, cycling, snowboarding and working on various automation projects. Romas is our electrical and software genius who makes our machines come alive!
Kevin is a BC Registered Professional Forester (ret) with over 30 years’ experience in both Woodlands and Manufacturing operations. When not strolling through a forest or cutting up logs, Kevin enjoys playing pool accompanied by a scotch or two, looking for new music and dreaming of heading north for the summer with his adventurous wife Diane. Kevin is the proud father of two bright energetic daughters and enjoys spending lots of time together.
