Protecting birds, people & power lines

Flown directly to overhead power lines by the FulcrumAir E2500 UAV, our specialized LineFly™ robotic tools provide a fast, safe, and precise solution for installing Power Line Sentry Hawk Eye™ bird flight diverters and PLP spiral Bird-Flight™ Diverters. With placement accuracy within approximately 2 cm, LineFly™ helps electrical utilities and power line contractors protect birds wherever transmission and distribution infrastructure intersects with sensitive habitats and avian flyways.

Each robotic system can install up to 650 Hawk Eye™ diverters or 300 spiral diverters per day, with additional robots easily deployed to increase productivity. Operating across approximately 2 km from each launch site, the LineFly™ can access under-built conductors and sloped wires that are challenging for helicopters. In most cases, installation can also be completed on energized power lines without a planned outage.

With zero lost-time incidents, no land disturbance, and approximately 95% fewer carbon emissions than helicopter installation, LineFly™ offers utilities across the world a safer and more sustainable approach to overhead power line bird protection. Optional visual inspection reports provide clear documentation of installation quality and project completion.

Installation process

1. DEPLOY

The FulcrumAir E2500 UAV carries the LineFly™ robotic tool to the designated overhead power line and positions it directly on the conductor.

2. INSTALL

Once deployed, LineFly™ travels along the conductor and installs bird flight diverters at the customer’s specified intervals. Each deployment carries up to 12 Hawk Eye™ bird diverters or 8 PLP spiral Bird-Flight™ Diverters, with placement accuracy within approximately 2 cm of the specified location.

3. PROTECT

After installing its full capacity, LineFly™, still tethered to the E2500 UAV, is flown back to the launch site for reloading. The deploy-install-reload cycle continues efficiently until the required section of power line is marked and the installation is complete.
